چکیده

This paper presents the first numerical solution to the non-linear evolution equation for diffractive dissociation processes in deep inelastic scattering. It is shown that the solution depends on one scaling variable τ = Q2/QD 2 s (x, x0), where Q D s (x, x0) is the saturation scale for the diffraction processes. The dependence of the saturation scale Qs (x, x0) on both x and x0 is investigated, (Y0 = ln(1/x0) is a minimal rapidity gap for the diffraction process). The x dependence of Qs turns out to be the same as of the saturation scale in the total inclusive DIS cross section. In our calculations Qs (x, x0) reveals only mild dependence on x0. The scaling is shown to hold for x ≪ x0 but is violated at x ∼ x0. DESY-01-122 TAUP 2687 2001 February 1, 2008 e-mail: [email protected] e-mail: [email protected]

Non-Linear Evolution and High Energy Diffractive Production

The ratio of the diffractive production to the total cross section in DIS is computed as a function of the produced mass. The analysis is based on the solution to the non-linear evolution equation for the diffraction dissociation in DIS. The obtained ratios almost do not depend on the central mass energy in agreement with the HERA experimental data. This independence is argued to be a consequen...

Testing Saturation with Large-mass Diffraction in Dis

One of the most successful approaches to the understanding of hard diffraction in DIS is the QCD dipole picture which naturally describes both inclusive and diffractive events within the same theoretical framework1,2. It expresses the scattering of the photon through its fluctuation into a color singlet qq̄ pair (dipole) and the same dipole scattering amplitude enters in the formulation of the i...

Parton Densities and Saturation Scale from Non-Linear Evolution in DIS on Nuclei

We present the numerical solution of the non-linear evolution equation for DIS on nuclei for x = 10−2 ÷ 10−7. We demonstrate that the solution to the non-linear evolution equation is quite different from the Glauber Mueller formula which was used as the initial condition for the equation. We illustrate the energy profit for performing DIS experiments on nuclei. However, it turns out that the ga...

Scaling Phenomena from Non-Linear Evolution in High Energy DIS

The numerical solutions of the non-linear evolution equation are shown to display the “geometric” scaling recently discovered in the experimental data. The phenomena hold both for proton and nucleus targets for all x below 10−2 and 0.25GeV2 ≤ Q2 ≤ 2.5 × 103 GeV2. The scaling is practically exact (few percent error) in the saturation region. In addition, an approximate scaling is found in the va...

Quark-Antiquark Production in DIS Diffractive Dissociation

We calculate the cross section for the production of two jets with large transverse momenta k in DIS diffractive dissociation for both transverse and longitudinally polarized photons. The scale which defines the hardness of the Pomeron is found to be k Q 2 +M M . We present analytic expressions and discuss numerical results relevant for the diffractive dissociation at HERA. 1.) The diffractive ...
